Child adoption from Pakistan — questions families abroad actually ask.
Short answers. Pakistan-side law only. Destination-country visas are a separate system.
Is child adoption legal in Pakistan?
Pakistan has no statute that creates Western-style adoption. Family Courts appoint a guardian under the Guardians and Wards Act, 1890. That order lets a family raise the child. It does not erase biological lineage or create automatic inheritance.
Can overseas Pakistanis adopt a child from Pakistan?
They can apply for court guardianship. KBL & Associates runs that file from Lahore for families living in the UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Canada and Europe.
Do I have to fly to Pakistan?
Usually not for every hearing. An attested power of attorney lets a Lahore advocate appear. A judge can still require you in person in a specific case.
What documents do families abroad usually need?
Passport or NICOP, proof of overseas residence, marriage certificate where relevant, evidence you can support the child, and a power of attorney attested for use in Pakistan.
Does the Pakistani order let the child enter the UK, USA, Canada or the UAE?
No. Each destination country applies its own immigration and recognition rules. The Pakistani certificate is the Pakistan-side court document only.
Can a non-Muslim be guardian of a Muslim child?
Pakistani law generally does not permit that pairing, and the reverse is also treated as a real factor. This is not a formality.
How do I instruct KBL & Associates from abroad?
WhatsApp +92 300 8143008, call the same number, email hello@bhullahlaw.com, or use the form at bhullahlaw.com/contact.html. Name the country you live in.
Where are the offices?
325-E, Johar Town, Lahore 54782, and Tufail Building, 2nd Floor, High Court, Lahore 05404.
Is the first conversation a paid hearing?
The site offers an initial consultation with no published fee. Engagement fees are quoted per matter in writing before work starts.
What is the difference between adoption and guardianship in Pakistan?
Adoption in the Western sense severs biological parentage and usually creates inheritance. Pakistani guardianship does neither automatically. See the firm’s note at /blog-adoption-vs-guardianship-pakistan.html.
